Approximately 2 years have passed since we have decided to set for the journey and started to make savings. It has been approximately 3 months since we left our jobs and 1 month since we have closed our home. But “the last preparations” stage didn’t come to an end yet, maybe it will never end. We knew that we wouldn’t start this journey like preparing our back packs and going for a holiday, but we hadn’t expected that it would be such a long process. Now we are counting days restively to leave auto-industries and step into the nature.
While were dreaming to simplify our lives, we have spent a lot of money and energy to buy a caravan, even it is a very simple caravan, and it’s never ending maintenance expenses because of its age. There are a lot of people asking us why we didn’t buy a better caravan. We would be working for 2 years more for it and postpone our dreams. Maybe we would have new health problems in this process and our trip would be postponed more and more. Yes, it is not easy to realize their dreams for people like us, who don’t live in material wealth. But it doesn’t have to be easy, it’s enough not be impossible. Even the difficulties we have now and we will have while travelling are exhausting, they gives pleasure and experience that you can’t buy with pieces of paper. We will remember them with a smile while telling it to our grandchildren, but we even do it now.
Farewell Selfie
With our friends, we have organized a small farewell party. They have wanted us to make a goodbye speech and asked how we get courage for such a hard and long journey. We couldn’t answer properly because we cannot be sure whether it is courage or not that we have and we need.
Why do we need courage? For dreaming? For acting to realize our dreams? For leaving the life style making us sad ant that we always complain about? The things we needed mostly in this journey were patience and consistence. Because we couldn’t do everything immediately and it was slow and took long beside our excitement.
As people who have dreamed a lot and feeling unsuccessful, even we have never tried any of them, we relate the situation we are in with the strength

of our desire and our consistence. Even if we have courage, we owe it to every traveller before us and everybody turning back to ecologic life. We hope to give courage to the others.
And, support was much more important than courage to realize our dreams. Support of our friends, families and each other, luckily we are just two people, was the only thing we needed to be patient and decisive. We can never forget the contribution of Morminor (Melis and Emre Rona), Green Brick Road Prject (Rita and Leandro) and Taner Aksel who has never hesitated to support us to find the answers we were looking for.
Our caravan is still being repaired, we hope it will be over in two days. Still we couldn’t acquire solar panel and waste oil conversion kit. The most important two requirements of journey haven’t been completed and our budget for such expenses is about to be wasted. We have started for new ways to solve it without being depressed.
A small but precious gift from Antonis
Our first plan is to start a support campaign to finance the expenses. It was in our minds for a while, but couldn’t understand that it would be essential until now. Our friend Alper is preparing a video now for the campaign. We will inform you via our blog and on Facebook when we start the campaign.
